Transportation ETFs give investors access to companies that build infrastructure, manufacture vehicles or other equipment and provide services for the industry. As Investopedia points out in a recent article, this includes airlines, railroads, trucking and logistics companies.
“Transportation ETFs hold a large number of cyclical stocks because the transport of goods and people fluctuate with the economy, increasing when the economy grows and decreasing when it slows,” the article explains.
Investopedia shares one of its top three picks for the third quarter of 2021, as measured by one-year trailing returns as of May 18, 2021. One of their top three picks is the U.S. Global Jets ETF (JETS), the only pure play airline ETF.

U.S. Global Investors continues to monitor the impact of COVID-19, but it is too early to determine the full impact this virus may have on commercial aviation. Should this emerging macro-economic risk continue for an extended period, there could be an adverse material financial impact to the U.S. Global Jets ETF.
