CEO and chief investment officer of U.S. Global Investors Frank Holmes shared his insights on the great debate between gold and bitcoin in a recent interview with Patrice Fusillo at Streetwise Reports. Frank explains that the two are not exclusive of one another, in his opinion. In fact, they’ve always been “inclusive” in his mind.
Patrice and Frank move on to discuss gold more, particularly gold mining stocks. Frank says he likes gold royalty and streaming stocks, which is what the U.S. Global GO GOLD and Precious Metal Miners ETF (GOAU) holds in its portfolio. Royalty companies serve as specialized financiers that provide upfront capital to help fund producers’ exploration and production projects. In return, they receive royalties on whatever is produced or rights to a “stream.”
“Thirty percent of the GOAU portfolio is in the gold royalties, or the ‘three big amigos’ – Royal Gold, Wheaton Precious Metals and Franco-Nevada Corp,” Frank comments.
